Back To Square One

12 November 2009

So the Afghanistan issue keeps on staying in Limbo as Obama embarks on a nine day trip in Asia, leaving the White House without having made any decision on the conduct of the war in that far country.
Here he goes again, gallivanting around the globe while the Military commanders remain waiting for some direction from their Commander in Chief. Ain't this guy great!?

Even more disturbing is his refusal of any of the strategies that have been presented to him so far. He made his non-decision public just as he was boarding Air Force One.
What this means is that any strategy formulation thus far is going to be discarded and that the country is back to square one. The three months gone by since McChrystal's report gone down the drain and nothing in sight to replace it. Ain't this guy great!?

What it is becoming painfully obvious is that the decision in Afghanistan remains a big pain in the Thug-in-Chief rear end, not because he is uncomfortable with the issue, but because it remains a distraction for him, demonstrating his wishing that the pesky troops would just go away with the whole Afghanistan things.
What is also becoming clear is that the guy that had declared the Afghanistan war to be the good and necessary war when campaigning, is today more interested in sweeping the whole thing under the rug, unless it becomes an exploitable campaigning issue.

I hate to make predictions because I hate to be wrong and, in cases like this, I hate even more to be right, but i predict that America will not be seeing a decision from this fraud of a President for many months to come. He will use every excuse he can spin, he will use the Media, he will use his cronies, to delay a decision until the bottom feeders of his administration (Emanuel and Axelrod come to mind) will be able to identify the most politically profitable way to handle the war.

In the mind of this really bad choice of a President, the only thing that really counts is his own personal power grab and if that involves or is facilitated by some insignificant soldier's life, so be it.

And these are my thoughts!
