Here is a very compelling essay:
A German's View on Islam
A man, whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism. 'Very few people were true Nazis,' he said, 'but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories.'
We are told again and again by 'experts' and 'talking heads' that Islam is the religion of peace and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the specter of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam. The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history.
It is the fanatics who march.
It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide.
It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave.
It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor-kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque.
It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers.
The hard, quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the 'silent majority,' is cowed and extraneous.
Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant.
China 's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.
The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.
And who can forget Rwanda , which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were 'peace loving'? History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:
Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.
Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because like my friend from Germany , they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.
Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.
As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts--the fanatics who threaten our way of life.
A serious issue? It is up to each individual to decide.
These words were written by Dr. Emanuel Tanay, a well respected psychiatrist.
No person of common sense could argue against any of the points that Dr. Tanay brings up, especially considering that the historical references are impeccable in their accuracy.
The frightening part is that today’s America appear to be on the same footing that Dr. Tanay mentions in regard to Nazi Germany and Maoist China, because today we have a large portion of society, thankfully not a majority, that finds comfort and confirmation in allowing an ever increasingly intrusive government to interfere with the freedoms our Forefathers championed 235 years ago and for which millions of Veterans have died for.
Today we are so passionate to insure that our society is accepting of so much extremism, from illegal aliens to Islamists, that we are missing the telltale signs of the dangerous direction we are moving toward.
Just as mentioned in Tanay’s essay, we are all peace loving people. Nobody more than I want peace all around so that my grandchildren will be allowed to live in a safe society, able to realize their full potential and build a good life for themselves, but one thing is to wanting such a society and another is to be willing to work for it.
So, today, there are two kinds of Americans.
One, which thankfully is still a minority in spite of the pressure imposed by the politically correct insanity we are suffering these days, is the type of person that considers physical confrontation an abhorrent behavior. To be more specific, this kind of American is very argumentative in voicing their opinion with anyone who does not represent a threat to them, but their belief is that it is never necessary to resort to violence to defend anything. These types are against the 2nd Amendment, and they are against any kind of Military involvement.
They truly believe that nothing is worth going to war over, nothing worth fighting for. These are also those who are the easiest preys for totalitarian personalities, as they are easily persuaded that the government is the only entity needed to safeguard the population. But who is safeguarding the population from a totalitarian government?
The other type, and fortunately in vast majority although mostly silent, is the type of American who believes in the rule of law, who believes in the Constitution and who will do whatever is necessary to safeguard his family, his country, his rights.
This is also the type of American who understands that at times the application of violence is an ugly, unfortunate, deplorable but necessary step one must take to insure that peace and safety is achieved and maintained.
The issue of radical Islam is one I have written extensively about, because I have tried to educate myself as extensively as possible about the results of a politically correct approach that the people in the United States have taken in regard to the subject.
For years Americans have sat back and let this sworn enemy of the Nation spread its subversive tentacles across the land, insidiously using the very liberties insured by our Constitution to coerce our collective consciousness into a condition of forced acceptance, lest we would be labeled racist and Islamophobic, all the while working assiduously toward the destruction of everything that America stands for.
It is time we open our eyes. It is time to unite as a people in rejecting the diligent erosion of our values and beliefs.
Christiana Amampour of ABC News had an Islamic cleric on some weekend program. One of his statements included the promise that one day flag of Islam will be flying over the White House, because that is the will of their prophet Mohamed.
Sure, you may say, that will never happen in America. But, I would ask, would you have ever believed that after the 9-11-01 attacks we would have organizations like CAIR be intrinsically involved in the safety and security of our Nation? Would you have ever believed that such organization, with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood (which, by the way, has in its mission statement exactly what the Muslim cleric stated on the ABC program as a goal) would be invited to secret meeting with our Homeland Security officials to discuss matters of anti-terrorism? Yeah, me either.
As Dr. Tanay so eloquently expressed, it is for each one of us to decide the gravity of the situation.
(Thanks to my PGR sister Nettie for sending me Dr. Tanay’s essay)
Just my thoughts!
