Yesterday we watched as much as we could take of the One Nation rally put on by unions, NAACP and other Communist, Socialist and Marxists groups. It was their attack on the Tea Parties and Glenn Beck’s rally of 8/28. The only difference, Glenn’s rally was not a Tea Party rally, no one was forced to go and no one was paid to go. There were no attacks, no printed signs, no free busses, and the tone was positive. It was not a political rally. Had the Tea Party groups been called upon to attend, they would have filled all of DC. But it was not planned that way—there was no competition for numbers by Beck’s group. It had one sponsor—Glenn. The participants were the silent majority that generally doesn’t participate in such rallies and wanted nothing for their efforts except to return to the Constitution and Declaration of Independence and freedom to pursue the rights that they provide. The last thing any of them were looking for was a handout.
The One Nation rally was quite the opposite. Union workers were forced to go and provided free transportation and lunches—anything it took to organize the “victims”. It was promoted as the answer to the Tea Parties with the goal of having more participants. As it turned out, the Commies fell far short, although they did announce that a satellite photo showed that One Nation had more people on the Mall than on August 29th. Maybe so, but Beck’s rally was on August 28th! The “sparse” crowd, as depicted by the main stream media, was an embarrassment to the Democrats, but most encouraging to the Conservatives!
The unions would have been better off dumping their money into their bankrupt pension plans. It’s a certainty that One Nation did not contribute to anything, yet Beck’s rally earned $5.5 million for the Fallen Soldiers Fund. That’s the difference between the takers and the givers...
They were there looking for something—mostly free. It was highly political, calling for keeping the same Progressive congress because: “We have not gotten all we wanted in the first two years.” The 99ers where there in full force demanding 26 more weeks of unemployment benefits. They ripped apart the Conservatives with the usual line of lies and promoted class warfare. They said Republicans will tear down education and vowed to fight the force of evil of the conservatives and their discrimination.
Ed Schultz, a talk show host, was a stand-in for Michael Moore, with the same hatred and talk of social justice. Their rant was, as found on the Communists’ website: “value people over profits” and talked of economic greed, racial injustice and rebuilding America greener, more diverse and fair. They railed about tax cuts for the rich and spelled out how that money could be redistributed.
This was indeed a rally of the victims, the have-nots, that was dead set on attacking the responsible citizens, the Tea Party movement and those that have anything. They insisted government has the responsibility to get them homes, free healthcare, immigration reform and “invest” in the American workers. They talked of how the banks stole from hard working American families. And they talked of how the victims are being “damaged by incarceration”. The buzz words were, again, “social justice”, “invest in the people”, “broader distribution of wealth”, “exploitation”, “corporate greed”, “CEO pay and bonuses” - and on and on... And they called on everyone to be “dissatisfied” until they got all they wanted. Pure Cloward and Piven!
And, introduced as the “American Patriot”, Van Jones, self-avowed Communist, was there bashing oil and coal and pushing for green jobs while trying to convince the uneducated that the “planet is baking”. This is his answer to fight pollution and poverty at the same time. He assumes, of course, that those same people who are fighting against offshore drilling will want to get up in the morning and look at wind farms. All of these grand plans would, of course, require massive funds from the government and go down the same path this green movement did in Spain, causing over 20% unemployment. Of course Green for All was also sponsor—another one of Van Jones’ creations.
And, of course the exploiters of the blacks were there. Sharpton, whose claim to fame is “he has been an ordained minister since he was 9 years old”. Guess we know how much respect all the Reverends in the Progressive movement really deserve… He said “it’s time to bail out the American people”. (The reverend Jesse Jackson was also there, but we refused to listen to more of the same.)
They had signs that cut down Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin and there were speeches that did the same, with the next breath saying “this is all about healing”. What a confused bunch of do-nothings…The labor leaders were, of course, looking for passage of CardCheck and blaming the Republicans for keeping the American workers from having negotiating rights. In crying about workers rights having been crushed, they let a bit of encouraging information slip: only 1 in 15 private sector workers are in unions. Of course, they are out to unionize all of America… The rally must have been a real disappointment to the labor unions who had high expectations: “The AFL-CIO is determined that the Tea Party and its corporate backers are not going to get the final word,” said AFL-CIO executive vice president Arlene Holt Baker. “We will expect tens of thousands of union families to come.”
They claim that “labor unions are the heart of working America” and that “we deserve our jobs in this country—not just any jobs, but good jobs with benefits”. They insist they want wages that are rightfully theirs.
If there was a message today it was that the left is pushing for the Infrastructure Bank proposed by Obama and jobs for all paid by tax dollars. Of course, with the President’s executive orders and a stacked Department of Labor, all such jobs would go to union shops and therefore cost us at least 28% more than competitive bidding would produce. Hopefully if something like this gets going, the Republicans will have the good sense to insist on competitive bidding and not be for unions only—but then we never bet on anyone in DC…
They are also 100% against war of any kind, because the money could be better spent on the welfare cases. Even their hero, Charlie Rangel got a round of applause.
The most divisive speaker (through the first half) was Harry Belafonte, a Communist through and through. He called the Tea Parties a “band of misguided citizens, totally misrepresenting the Constitution” and that “Conservatives want a totalitarian state”.
It was a waste of time to watch, but did clearly demonstrate that this country is more divided than it has probably ever been. The blacks insist on being different rather than just becoming Americans. Even Sharpton uses poor English when he addresses them.
All the minorities were represented with calls for jobs and higher education for both legal and illegal immigrants—all ending with the cry “Power to Latinos”.
Of course the gays, lesbians and transgenders were there in full force playing the “victim” role and calling for special treatment.
The problem with this protest was that no one had any solutions. How do you encourage a bunch of high school and, in some cases, grade school dropouts to change their ways? How do you get these people off the free lunch that the Progressives have convinced them that they are entitled to? Taxpayers have dumped trillions of dollars into the various poverty programs, yet it’s all worse now than it’s ever been. You may recall our introduction to welfare that saw a college graduate with a great job making only 2/3 as much as a welfare case who had spent those same four years having illegitimate kids.—and that was in the sixties and nothing has changed expect the college graduate had only the number of kids they could afford while the welfare cases’ kids probably reproduced like rabbits.
If there was some way to teach the poor that “they can do anything they want, as long as they can afford to pay for it.” If they want children and have no education then it may require an extra job, or the wife may have to work. No, it’s much easier never to get married, have the illegitimate kids and the government will take care of you all—while the "father" earns a good living. The combined income is far more than had they married—and they wonder why there are so many unwed mothers.
And what was the left’s excuse for the miserable turnout at their rally? From MSNBC: “It will inevitably be compared to Glenn Beck’s rally, but that’s not really fair. The Beck rally represented the pinnacle of a well-funded 2 year plan to organize the tea parties by building up local groups around the country, pumping out a consistent message through right wing media outlets like Fox News, and promoting celebrities like Glenn Beck. Of course they can produce a hundred thousand people at the mall. But that kind of coordinated effort doesn’t spring up overnight.”
No, it took decades to wake up the ‘silent majority’...
We weren’t the only ones that couldn’t stand to watch—the place was fast to empty out, while the those at the Beck Rally were reluctant to leave even after it was over. The contrast between the entertainers at the two rallies was stark, to say the least. The videos are all over the Internet—try the new site “TheBlaze.com”. As we said last week, “it will be interesting to see how much garbage they leave behind. After the Inauguration the grounds were trashed, yet after Glenn’s rally they were spotless.” Pictures show that they managed to trash the grounds this time around, too.
On November 2nd Americans just have to decide which side they want to be on...
