The new operation budget for the federal government was passed in Congress. It covers a $1.4 trillion in capped amount for federal agencies, a reduction of some $40 something billions (a real drop in the bucket) and just over $150 billions for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The spending cuts being so abysmal, where the budget is saving money is in the 1.4% pay raise allotted for Military personnel, the lowest pay increase in 5 decades.
The U.S. government still has a massive spending problem, with nobody willing to address the amount of money spent on a huge bureaucratic apparatus.
So Congress turns to where they can incur the least amount of protestations: the Military.
While the members of Congress are always ready, in true bi-partisan mode, to vote themselves a nice raise, regarding of how low the American people approve of them, when it comes to cutting cost, just stick it to the Military. They cannot protest.
But the silver lining, if there is one, could be that the new budget does not impact the medical coverage for Military members, for what I gather.
And it is a silver lining, as not too long ago some stooge had proposed that Veterans could be made responsible for their medical costs. Obama even looked at the proposal (in my opinion he should have thrown the scum out on the street for just proposing it), but discarded the idea after a tsunami of protestation came from Veterans associations and civilians across the country.
Van Jones, former "green czar" communist choice of Obama, says that the United States don't have to be a Military superpower. But of course, Van, because that would eliminate the possibility of America to defend itself from you and your friends in Beijing.
Remain vigilant, America. Our survival depends on it.
Just my thoughts!
Yeah and unfortunatly our boys and girls feel it when money is cut. Little things here and there and some big things... Unfortunatly they are right too, none of them can complain.
