It was predictable. One can always count on the progressive lunacy for explanations.
The hundreds of killer tornadoes that have devastated the South East of the United States have brought death and despair to countless Americans. Even more Americans are stepping up to help the victims of those horrendous storms.
President Obama toured some devastated areas of Alabama. Setting aside my dissent with the President, I much appreciated his gesture, regardless of any agenda behind it, because for those who have lost so much, even the token gesture of the President is a demonstration that their tribulations are felt by the whole Nation.
On the other hand, just as in many cases including the shooting in Tucson last January that left six people dead, the Left is ready to utilize every event for the purpose of advancing its agenda. In the now immortal words of f-ing Rahm Emanuel, don’t let a good crisis go to waste.
At ThinkProgress, Emanuel’s inspiring words are taken seriously. According to the Progressive web site, the reason for the devastating tornado activity witnessed is the refusal of the Congressional delegations of some of the states affected to genuflect to the truth about global warming.
In the minds of the unhinged climate drones, the events of the past week is a direct consequence of political actions on the part of congressional delegations from Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, and other neighboring states for rejecting the “unequivocal” about man caused climate change.
In other words, the devastation caused by the string of deadly tornadoes is a punishment from Mother Earth of those who are reluctant to submit to questionable science.
The global warming scam has become a religion for many in the Progressive ranks, exhibiting a stunning arrogance in the belief that Man has possibly such power over natural phenomena. And they were quick to assess their blame.
Sarene Marshall, Managing Director of a group called The Nature Conservancy’s Global Climate Change Team, was up front in stating
“The Earth is warming. Carbon emissions are increasing and they are both connected to increased intensity and severity of storms that we both are witnessing today, and are going to see more in the coming decades.”
To retort such self-righteous statement, Greg Carbin, a real scientist from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, refuted the connection between global warming and the tornado activity seen in the past week.
Carbin, who is the coordinating meteorologist at the Storm Prediction Center in Oklahoma, and a member of several professional organizations, says that even as devastating the tornadoes were, they were still a small scale event in the totality of the global warming discussion.
According to the statistical data from NOAA, the last few decades have seen a decrease in severe tornado activities and an increase in weaker storms. The truth of the matter is that this time of the year witnesses, historically, the development of tornado activity across the South East of the country. There is a reason why it is called Tornado Alley and it precedes global warming.
But the followers of the religion of climate change are not detracted by reason and statistics, or by science, real science.
The activity of the cult-like global warming followers has been one of crying foul at every possible natural disaster. They did so in the aftermath of Katrina, all too ready and happy to lay the blame for the storm on the indiscriminate industrialization of the United States and the hated George W. Bush.
We are now getting closer to the beginning of the hurricane season in the Atlantic, June 1st, and just as it happens every year since the monstrous Katrina struck the Gulf States in 2005, the predictions are grim. Every year the announcement is made about how many hurricane strength storms will occur, how much destruction and death will be caused by Man refusal to submit to the religion of the Earth.
Every news outlet is ready to jump on every hint of storm activity in the south eastern Atlantic Ocean, in the hope, for many of the zealots, that the particular storm will become the next Katrina and give additional fuel to the insanity of their cause.
How arrogant have we become to believe that anything we do may have the power to interfere with the perfect balance of Nature or its power.
My reality is that the power of Nature is so much greater than any miniscule interference Mankind could make that the occurrence of tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, winter storms, summer storms is determined by natural conditions that are, under no circumstance, in the control of humans.
Yes, we can screw things up by our activities, as in the case of the Exxon Valdez or the BP Deepwaters Horizon spill, but the truth is that in the long run Nature always takes care of itself.
Just my thoughts!
