6 January 2010
On January 5, 2010, blogger and journalist Michael Yon was detained at the Seattle airport by a Custom official upon arriving into the United States from Asia.
According to the report, Mr. Yon was handcuffed by the Custom official for refusing to answer the question about his income. Yes, his income.
The official told Mr. Yon that he was not arrested, but the handcuffs were obviously a sign that the journalist was not free to leave. Why else putting someone in handcuffs?
So this is what Obama America looks like these days. A Muslim terrorist tries to blow up a plane load of innocent travelers over Detroit, a Muslim terrorist blows 14 people away at a Military base, a Muslim terrorist shoots and kills an Army recruit in front of a recruitment office and they all get the full extent of American justice perks that AG Eric Holder and Obama can think of, but a former Army Special Forces Veteran (Green Beret) gets detained for not answering a question that ultimately is NOT relevant to the job of a Custom official at an airport.
But then again, it all fits with the directives emanated by the new White House to its minions.
After all, according to that great example of intelligence that is Janet Napolitano, Mr. Yon is the pure example of a terrorist threat to the Nation: a Veteran!
(Truly Ms. Napolitano must be in some kind of a contest with Barbara Boxer for the most incompetent American woman).
For those not too familiar with Michael Yon, he is, as I said, a former Green Beret, an Army Veteran, who after the invasion of Iraq, has gone to that country and to Afghanistan and countless other countries where our Military is engaged. As an embed in Military units, he has not only seen the ugliness of war from behind a camera, but he has produced an impressive amount of good information for the people at home. He has been with U.S. Army and Marine units, always successfully able to portray a clear and educated view of the sacrifices our Military is making, contrasting it with the foolishness demonstrated by the politicians at home. He has been critical of both Bush and Obama approach to the war on terror, while praising both when warranted.
Basically, the reason why I enjoy his work, even if I do not agree with him 100% of the time, is because he only has one goal: support of the Military men and women and their mission!
The treatment he received at the Seattle airport by an official who could not scrape the dirt off the sole of Yon's boots, is just another example of a philosophy of governmental power that is now filtering down to the rank and file of Government workers.
I expect any day that some USPS delivery person will decide to detain someone because he/she is receiving mail from the NRA.
So this is Obama's New America, an unrecognizable America that caters more to those who want to harm it, to those who pillage it and those who invade it, while persecuting those who defend and risk their lives for its protection.
And these are my thoughts!
