26 January 2010
According to an ABC News article of January 25, 2010, it appears that the CIA or the Military missed the opportunity to target and take out Anwar al Awlaki, a US citizen turned traitor for al Qaeda.
The strike against the New Mexico-born terrorist was not brought to completion due to the concerns officials had about the legal ramifications of targeting a US citizen for assassination. In other words, the order was withheld and the opportunity lost for fear of prosecution on the part of the Dept. of Justice of who would give and carry out the order.
The character in question, al Awlaki, is the same one who was in contact and spiritually advising Nidal Hasan before the Army major decided to go on a shooting jihad killing 14 people at Ft. Hood. The same one who was so prominent in the selection and training of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the panties bomber who tried to kill 300 innocent people on Christmas Day.
So, today, al Awlaki is still breathing and planning terror attacks against innocent people because of the level of distrust field officers have in the current Justice Dept.
AG Eric Holder, undoubtedly under orders of Obama himself, has demonstrated a record of standing in favor of terrorists as opposed to American citizens and Military that those supposed to make the decision of ridding the world of such piece of work did not feel confident that performing their duty would be welcomed by those in charge. Surely a morale building set of circumstances for both our Military and our intelligence community.
Also shown is the reality that there were no Jack Bauer involved in the decision making of this specific operation, that there was nobody ready to face the music for doing the right thing.
Understandably, Obama and Holder desire to prosecute CIA operatives who kept America safe since 9-11-01, the forgiveness of the New Black Panthers, bringing the masterminds of the 9-11 attacks to New York for criminal prosecution, giving the panties bomber civilian legal rights, and in general Obama and Holder disposition to favor terrorists against American innocent civilians and Military, must give those in the decision making business of doing the necessary dirty work for the safety of our Nation pause and uncomfortable feelings.
So now al Awlaki is somewhere in the wild territories of Yemen, protected by al Qaeda. Who can tell if we will have another opportunity anytime soon and what the reaction will be then.
Then there is a very disturbing last sentence of the article:
“Hundreds of FBI and other federal agents will fan out this week as part of a secret operation to pursue leads about Americans with connections to Yemen that were previously dismissed as not significant”
There is so much wrong in these few words that it makes my head hurt.
First of all, why are law enforcement officials announcing to the Media a “secret” operation aimed at potential terrorists? If it is a “secret” operation, why are we announcing it to our enemies?
“Leads…that were previously dismissed…”? How many of these “leads” were dismissed? How many fall in the same category as Maj. Hasan?
And how confident can the American people be in the actions of federal law enforcement when their actions are so controlled by an administration so sympathetic to Islamic terrorist?
Today the news reports that a man was arrested in New Jersey after he was found with an arsenal of weapons, including an RPG, maps of Military installations and other cultural facilities. Just as the FBI was so quick to declare Maj. Hasan murderous act as “non terrorist related”, the FBI is declaring that the man arrested today has not terrorist connections.
This is getting old now. From Obama on down the slope, the Military and the federal civilian apparatus in place to protect and defend the American people is being guided toward an increasingly disturbing direction, one where terrorism and hints of it are downplayed and ignored, in the attempt to sanitize the danger that we Americans are really facing. Why, you’d ask?
Because downplaying terrorism, specifically Islamic terrorism, plays in the plan of Obama to diminish, to distract America’s attention from the whole issue all together.
A major terror crisis, one of those crisis Rahm Emanuel loves so much, could open the door for Obama and his cronies to the suspension of the US Constitution. Already Obama believes that the 1st Amendment is anti-democracy, and we all know how he feels about the 2nd Amendment.
Keep your eyes open America. It looks like We the People are on our own when it comes to protecting our country.
And these are my thoughts!
