The Spin Zone Called DoJ

By Semperpapa

There are several spin zones in Washington these days, more like thousands, but none more blatantly disturbing that the Department of Justice.

Attorney General Eric Holder, on July 6, declared that the United States government has filed a law suit against the State of Arizona and its Governor Jan Brewer in order to stop the implementation of SB 1070, the anti-illegal immigration bill passed by the south-western state to combat the scourge of illegal immigration.

AG Holder urges the U.S. District Court of Arizona to permanently stop the law from taking effect at the end of July.
The legal basis used by Holder to back his law suit is that the enforcement of immigration laws is the sole jurisdiction of the federal government and therefore the Arizona law is invalid and actually a disruption of the efforts made at the federal level. Holder stated that the Arizona law must be “struck down” so that the efforts of the federal government in combating the entry of dangerous illegals, like terrorists, would not be impeded.

In a written statement, Holder said that

"Arizonans are understandably frustrated with illegal immigration, and the federal government has a responsibility to comprehensively address those concerns. But diverting federal resources away from dangerous aliens such as terrorism suspects and aliens with criminal records will impact the entire country's safety."

At the news of the law suit filing, Gov. Jan Brewer expressed her disappointment with the turn of events and complained of the enormous waste of taxpayers’ money that the legal action will represent. In a statement released from her office, Gov. Brewer said, among other things, that

"It is wrong that our own federal government is suing the people of Arizona for helping to enforce federal immigration law. As a direct result of failed and inconsistent federal enforcement, Arizona is under attack from violent Mexican drug and immigrant smuggling cartels. Now, Arizona is under attack in federal court from President Obama and his Department of Justice."

Gov. Brewer also stated that it was ironic that the government would attack a piece of legislation legally passed in the state legislature, aimed at re-enforcing the federal immigration laws (as the official illegal immigration law of the Nation is pretty much the same as the one passed in Arizona), while the government has never brought any legal action against municipalities that openly violated federal immigration laws with their “sanctuary” self definition.

Protest against the suit were raised by other Arizona politicians, including the state’s two senators, McCain and Kyl, while lauding of the Department of Justice actions came from the usual suspects, like the American Civil Liberty Union.

So here we have it. The federal government going against the will of the people once again, as this administration has been accustomed to do since day one.
For years now the United States government has failed miserably to provide the American people with a security apparatus at the southern border that would insure the end of literally an invasion of illegal immigrants into our territory. And the problem is not only of Mexican illegals, but also of uncounted and undisturbed OTM (Other than Mexicans) illegals that evidences have shown to have entered the country via the Mexican border, potential terrorists who are now roaming the streets of our Nation.

But this is just another crisis that the Obama administration cannot allow to go to waste. In fact, the man talks about “comprehensive immigration reform” of a system that, he says, is utterly broken.
So just like the “financial reform” and the “healthcare reform”, Obama is only interested in totally changing the posture of the United States to best fit his personal agenda, regardless of the damage he and his Obamadroids cause the Nation.
The true reason behind the law suit is not the interference that the Arizona law may create with federal resources, because, after all, the federal government has miserably failed at that effort for decades.
The true reason is that the striking down of the Arizona law would give him greater leverage in his pushing for the reform of the system, which is, in reality, amnesty.
Obama has to get the amnesty for the 30 millions illegals done, because he surely needs those votes in November.
The amazing part, at least for me, is that the Department of Justice is taking months to put together the case against the author of the massacre at Ft. Hood, dodging and weaving its responsibilities over the reasons behind Hasan’s killing spree, with dozens of eye witnesses, claiming the need for time in the discovery of all evidences. And yet, they are already able to file a law suit against one of the states in such a short time. I guess when it fits Obama’s agenda bureaucratic red tape is not a hindrance. Amazingly, this law suit has been spoken of since the day the law was passed, even by those, like Eric Holder, who admitted had never read the law in the first place.

Yes, there are thousands of spin zones in Washington, but Eric Holder has been able to make himself noted on several occasions. Again!

Just my thoughts!
