Useless As Ever: United Nations

As the body count keeps on increasing in Syria thanks to the crackdown of government forces against those who dare to protest the regime, and as the calls from across the globe are heard to force Bashar Assad to stop killing his own citizens, the useless United Nations succeeds again to make a mockery of one of his entities.

Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who does not want to jeopardize his chances for re-appointment, not only will not take any action in attempting to stop the carnage, but he just allowed Syria to become the latest members of the UN Human Right Council.

Just amazing, you would say, but it really is not. Considering that Libya and Iran are also members of that council, the suggestion of Syria membership to an international body of which they have no understanding of, is just another demonstration of the futility of the entire United Nations.

Representatives of the US State Department stated that they would oppose the hypocritical nomination, but regardless of the indecency of the move, it is expected that the nomination will go through.

Granted that the Council is just as useless as the parent organization, the fact that countries like Syria and Iran are even mentioned in the same sentences with “human rights” is a travesty even beyond the United Nations.

Once again, the need for the dissolution of the United Nations is as relevant as ever. It is time for the United States to give the boot to all those who are pillaging the international community by living lavishly in New York.

It is time to deport every single UN official out of the country and close the place down, and most of all defund the organization, translating into a good saving of our tax money.
